 Taamusi Qumaq

Developed over a ten-year period starting in 1980 in Puvirnituq by Taamusi Qumaq it is the first dictionary created by a Nunavik Inuk. The 24,500 words  and definitions were originally written in Inuktitut. English and French translations  are in progress.

Compiled by Lucien Schneider in the 1950s mainly at Kangiqsujuaq, this work presents 22,000 inuit words defined in French (published in 1970) and translated in English in 1980.  The dictionary includes a pronunciation key.
